Unlocking the Mysteries of the Brain – FWF Funds Cutting-Edge Research!

With €21 million in support from the FWF, the Zimmer and Hummel groups join a powerful interdisciplinary team spanning Vienna, Klosterneuburg, and Innsbruck.

New Cluster of Excellence (COE) - Neuronal circuits in health and disease – funded by FWF!

The FWF is supporting our COE with funding of €21 million. The Zimmer and Hummel groups are members of this interdisciplinary consortium of research groups in Vienna, Klosterneuburg and Innsbruck. We will work together to elucidate the role of GABAergic neurons in the function of brain circuits in health and disease. Our research will lead to a deeper understanding of the neural circuit computations enabled by inhibitory interneurons in the brain and pave the way for new treatment strategies to combat neurological diseases.
